Filling stations were different. Most early stations looked like what they were--small cottages. But the desire to express cleanliness and modernity was a perfect fit for Art Deco, especially the later Streamlined Moderne style.

Naturally, these stations gave out free road maps. Many were gorgeous but we've seen surprisingly few in a truly Deco style, with World's Fair maps the main exception.
