Decopix Art Deco Patent of the Week-Depression Clock by F.J. Abel

Abel Clock-WP (1 of 1)

Any design from 1932 might be called “Depression era” but somehow, this clock speaks to depression with both a capital “D” and a small one. The lack of hands is probably coincidental. Or maybe not.

Frank J. Abel of Long Island patented a number of designs, most more cheerful than this, and many in the Art Deco style. More from Mr. Abel in future posts.
